Changes to the Architects Act: In July 2004 there have been changes introduced to the Architects Act and Regulations. These changes are aimed at safe guarding the profession as well as the public and are aimed at clarifying the use of the term Architect as well as restricting the use of the term Architect to only those who are Architects registered under the Act by the Registration Board of NSW. There are heavy penalties for those who, such a draftspersons who use the term in an unprescribed manner. These penalties range from $ 11,000.00 for an individual and $ 22,000.00 for corporations who use the term Architect illegally. Architects have a Code of Conduct which they must follow in dealing with the public as well as their own profession. As well Architects are issued with identification making it easy for members of the public to determine bona - fides of Registration.
